Meet Idd Aziz: The Global Electronic and Afrofusion Power House

When he started perfoming at the tender age of 13 with his father (a reknowned percussionist), Idd had no idea he would takeover the world someday. They started at Bomas of Kenya, Kenya’s multicultural centre, performing for tourists and expatriates.

His catalog boasts the likes of Africa’s greatest mucisians: Salif Keita (Mali), Angelique Kidjo (Benin), Yossout N’Dour (Cameroon) and Alpha Blondy (Ivory Coast). Over the years, he has been experimenting with other African cultures fusing spiritual melodies with native mijikenda lyrics to produce timeless rhythms. The music maestro plays drums, guitar and flute, making him an excellent live performer.

Aziz is a combination of passion and experience making him a favourite for EDM and afrohouse DJs who approach him for features.

In 2025, his track Beautiful Day with Mathias Space was picked as the official soundtrack for the AFCON championships. Also in the same year, his track Time (Mimi), a collaboration with German artist Dhali, topped Spotify’s newly released 2025 Global Impact List. The annual ranking spotlights the top 30 Kenyan songs with the most international streams.

Still in 2025, he became first Kenyan artiste to perform at the world-famous Burning Man Festival in Nevada. He shared the stage with South African renowned international EDM DJ Black Coffee.
